John Barnes Sr.
Store Owner
John graduated from MATC in 1976 with an Associates degree in Watchmaking and Jewelry Design. In the fall of 1976 he attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California and graduated in 1977 with a Graduate Gemologist degree. He furthered his skills and became a Certified Gemologist in 1983. In 1984, he went on to Advanced Jewelry Repair training in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1985, John become one of the first Certified Gemologist Appraisers in the state of Wisconsin. This is the highest achievement in gemological skills and requires a membership with the American Gem Society and an annual re-exam to keep this prestigious title. In 1986, John and his wife Corinne opened Barnes Jewelers.
John's passion is antiques and antique jewelry. He is an expert in antique and vintage jewelry and lectures throughout the state of Wisconsin. Because of John's many years of experience and high integrity, he has an impeccable reputation. Outside of work John is active in his church and enjoys traveling when time allows.
Interesting fact: John second cousin, Don Barnes, is the lead singer of the band .38 Special.

Corinne Barnes
Chief Financial Officer
Corinne, along with her husband John Sr., is the owner of Barnes Jewelers. They opened the business together in 1986. She has completed the GIA Diamond grading course along with countless seminars and business classes. In addition to Corinne's financial responsibilities, she also handles all administration work and helps on the sales floor. Outside of work she enjoys baking and traveling.
Interesting fact: In high school Corinne hated math and accounting classes, but now as CFO of Barnes Jewelers, working with numbers is her passion.

John Barnes Jr.
General Manager
John graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication. After graduation, he was prepared to attend law school at Marquette. This changed, however, after assisting his parents during a busy Christmas season. It was then he realized that being a jeweler was his true calling. John is currently our General Manager, overseeing the store's daily operations.
Interesting fact: John spent over 7 years in a band that frequently toured the country. He was the drummer.

Heather Schryer
Sales Associate, Custom Design
Heather graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Art degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis in Metalsmithing, and an Art History minor. She further studied at the Gemological Institute of America in California, obtaining her Graduate Jewelers Diploma. She is currently continuing her studies with G.I.A. in the field of Gemology. In addition to sales, Heather is our resident Pandora expert, and hand sketches and builds all of the CAD designs for our custom pieces. Outside of work Heather enjoys visits to art or natural history museums, her family cabin in the north woods, a good book, and hot cups of tea.
Interesting fact: Although Heather loves all animals, and even has an old black kitty at home, she also has a love for reptiles which started during a high school summer job at a petting zoo. Her red tail boa constrictor, Echo, currently measures in at almost eight feet long!

Joe Barnes
Sales Associate
Although Joe has always been available to help at the family business when needed, he didn't fully come on board until the fall of 2010, when he realized he had a passion for jewelry, like his brother. He is excited to be a part of the growing family business and plans to study Gemology. Joe currently works on the sales floor and enjoys assisting customers with their purchases.
Interesting fact: Joe enjoys hunting, fishing, and coaching JV baseball for Lake Country Lutheran High School.

Sarah Anderson
Sales Associate
Sarah received her Associates degree in Natural Science and Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha. She has a passion for traveling and recently embarked on an 11 month mission trip where she lived and served in eleven different countries mostly in Central America, South East Asia, East Africa, and finally India, where she worked in a polio home. Sarah plans to further her education by studying social work and hopes to visit Cambodia again to work with an organization she worked with in the past.
Interesting fact: Sarah bungee jumped into the Nile river when she was in Uganda.

Katie Barnes
Graphic / Web Designer
Katie graduated from Carroll College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Communication. She currently designs and maintains our company's website, designs most of our printed marketing materials, and also occasionally assists on the sales floor. Outside of work Katie enjoys scrapbooking, visiting theme parks around the country with her husband John Jr., and taking care of their dog, Allie, our very own "Chief of Security" here at Barnes Jewelers.
Interesting fact: Katie is related to Joseph Mohr, the author of the Christmas song "Silent Night."

Allie
Chief of Security
Allie, John Jr. and Katie's miniature dachshund, has a condition known as IVDD, and has suffered two ruptured discs in her back. After her second back surgery, she is still paralyzed and cannot walk on her back two feet. Because of her disability, Allie spends some days at the jewelry store. But no need to worry! Allie is a happy, spunky dog, and when she's not napping in "Grandma's" office, she takes over her self proclaimed role as Chief of Security.
Interesting fact: Despite looking a bit like a Jack Russell Terrier, Allie is purebred dachshund. Her color, called red piebald, is more common than you might think.
